Pain update

Quick post tonight because this has been one of the hardest days I have had in a long time. I’ve had major stomach cramping and diarrhea from a new pill I started this morning for constipation. I’m definitely not constipated anymore! I’m very weak and can’t get out of bed right now. It’s been a really hard day.

Starting new pain patch tonight

The pharmacy got their shipment of my pain medicine in today, so I just put on my new pain medicine patch. It stays on for 3 days, and I take my current pain medicine for part of the next 24 hours while my body gets used to the new one and absorbs it.

Pain update

I was able to talk to my doctor while at the infusion center today. Here’s what’s new:

We are changing up the quantity of certain things I am taking for constipation. Hopefully that will help. If not, he has ordered a medicine I can take that specifically helps constipation from narcotics.

Thanks for praying for my pain

Thank you for praying last night when I was in so much pain. I woke up a few times during the night but was able to go back to sleep right away.

The full body pain didn’t start up again today till after lunch. So that was a nice relief in the morning. I decided to take two oxycodone to see if that would help more with the pain, but unfortunately it didn’t make a difference. Why????

Full Body Pain

Just a quick post tonight…

It’s 6:45 p.m. and my whole body is throbbing. This is the third day of it. I took oxycodone 45 minutes ago and it hasn’t helped at all. All I have done all day is sit in my recliner or sit in the bed and watch TV to try and distract myself from the pain. I don’t want to be around anyone. I’m so depressed and tired of being in pain.

Would you please stop and pray that if it’s the Lord’s will the pain would stop? And if it’s not His will, that I would not be discouraged?

Thanks. ❤

Bone Scan Comparisons

When I did my bone scan last week, we knew that we would see a lot of growth when we compared it to the previous one from October 2019. So looking at the scans side by side, I can see 15 months worth of growth while on active treatment.

Even with that knowledge going in, it was still very hard to look at the images and see how many of my bones have active cancer in them. And it’s crazy to see how much growth there has been knowing I was on chemo the entire 15 months. Clearly the chemo was not working the majority of the time, which we already knew.

Showers and Neuropathy

I have not taken a regular shower since the 19th of November, when they put in my pleurx catheter, so we could drain the fluid from around my lung at home. I have taken partial showers and wiped off with rags and wipes, but I really miss being able to take a regular shower.

Asking Questions and Getting Answers

Valley Medical recently changed how they release test results.  They used to go to the Dr. first and then the Dr. would release them.  They now release them to us both at the same time.

After my bone scan,  I had the radiologist’s results within a few hours.  The results are like a foreign language sometimes and we Google a lot of words to figure out test results. Then the oncologist clarifies things we can’t figure out.

Puppy Love

I’ll admit, I always thought it was a little strange how people felt like their dogs were like a child and a member of their family. We always had dogs when I was growing up and I never felt that way. But they were outdoor dogs and never allowed in the house. Maybe that is the difference. Now I get it. We have had Oliver about two weeks now and we just adore him.

It’s Not Fair

I was browsing through social media today and was reading a post of an author I follow.  She is just getting over COVID. She was describing how she felt for the past 2 weeks and was so thankful to be feeling better.  I am so happy for her and am thankful she could deal with it at home and didn’t have to go to the ER.
