Something hasn’t been right since I drained the fluid from my lung on Saturday. When I talked to the doctor on Monday, I said I would monitor it at home and get back to him on Wednesday if it had not improved.
A wet cough woke me up quite a few times last night, even sleeping elevated. We drained the fluid from my lung again this morning and there was not much improvement after doing that. So we talked to the oncology nurse and then packed up and headed to the ER so they could do a CT and try to figure out why my breathing is so labored. I am getting enough oxygen, it is just very uncomfortable.
I got the test results back from the doctor early afternoon. He said there’s nothing big that would show why this is happening. There are no blood clots, so that’s great. He said there are a few areas that look like inflammation on my lung.
He talked to Dr. Leung and their best diagnosis is that it is bronchitis. (Honestly though, he didn’t seem that convinced.)
They gave me a breathing treatment and an IV steroid and sent me home with a steroid and antibiotic. Then I will follow up with Dr. Leung next week or sooner if necessary.
The breathing treatment did help a little. It’s easier for me to take a deep breath and doesn’t hurt as much. Now we just have to see if I can have a conversation while sitting down without getting out of breath. So far, a few hours later, I don’t notice a difference. That is discouraging. But I will take the prescribed medicine and hopefully that will help.
Oh, Jennifer, I’m so sorry this is another difficulty on top of everything else. My prayer for you tonight will be that you can breathe easily and sleep deeply, regaining your strength. I remember when you were little and you would have trouble breathing. The adrenaline they gave you made you hyper following an attack. One of the things that would help you back then was if you could take slow breaths and think relaxing thoughts or listen to music that turned your heart to Jesus’s care for you. I hope it still helps to do that. May you feel Him close tonight. <3 I will be praying for the restoration of your lungs.
Praying, dear one.
Love you.
Praying the meds will help and you can get sleep. Love, Chuck and Bobbie
I sure wish I had the right words to encourage you. I just want to assure that I am praying for you.
So very sorry to hear this… praying you will be able to sleep comfortably tonight and that the bronchitis will be brought under control quickly!
