We are back from vacation.

I think in the past I might have said I “needed” a vacation.  But this time, our family really did NEED a get-a-way from cancer treatments and restaurant openings.

We were gone 8 days in Eastern Washington and Idaho.  Most of the time we were in an area we had never visited before and it was fun exploring new places!

It took us a few days to settle into vacation mode.  But we did eventually and enjoyed time as a family and Tom and I even got a little time to talk as the kids played in the lake or watched movies in the car.

The conversation that stands out the most to me during our time away was about the future.  We have been living one day at a time, one moment at a time, for this past year.  It has been hard to look ahead at the future and plan anything.

We talked about trips we’d like to go on as a family.  There are a few places we wanted to wait ’til the girls are older to go to, but I don’t want to miss them.  After talking for a while, we decided to try really hard to not think that way.  If we want to go to Disney World, let’s plan it wisely with travel insurance and know cancelation policies, but plan it!  Yes, something might change with my health, but if we never plan it, it will never happen.  I have no idea if that makes any sense, but it was a great conversation about the unknown future and how we want to look at it.

So now it’s back to reality – Tom to work and the girls and I enjoying the last days of summer as school starts on September 1st.

We talked all the girls into riding Timber Terror. Our oldest and yougest weren't too happy during it, but we all survived!
