Quick post…Im pretty out of it.
I was on the table all ready to go and the radiologist got the ultrasound and started looking for fluid. I didn’t have as much fluid as he thought I would, and it was only accessible through my back.
The tube that was going to be put in is permanent, and is not meant to be taken out. Having it in your back makes it extremely difficult to lay down or sit. So he recommended waiting until there was more fluid and they could access it from a different point so that my quality of life wouldn’t be so greatly affected. I agreed!
So they got me unhooked from everything and we got me back to my room. Then they just did a regular Thoracentesis like they have in the past and drained about 600 ml of fluid. That’s on track for about 500 ml a week, like I have been doing in the past.
Currently there is a small air pocket in the cavity around my lung from the procedure. So we are waiting an hour for another x-ray to make sure the body absorbs the air. Then we’ll head home.
I’m very tired and look forward to laying down in bed as soon as we get home!!
Well….2ndx-ray shows no change so now we wait 2 more hours and pray for change. I am not having any pain so I think they will send me home either way after that x-ray.
It’s now 5:40pm and nothing has changed in the x-ray. The Dr. said since I have been stable for 3 hours, the air should take care of itself. As soon as they de-acess my port we are on our way home!
More later….it’s been a long, hard, emotional day.
I’m glad you are home and able to rest. Sending you lots of love and prayers!
So glad you got to go home. I continue to pray.
I’m glad you are home, and so glad the port wasn’t in your back!
Continued prayers for comfort, rest, healing and strength!
I love you!
Oh sweet friend, praying for a calm, stress free day full of relaxation and laughter. I love you.
Such a very hard day. May the Lord remove the air bubble and you regain strength.
