As I’ve been sitting in the radiation waiting room each day, I’ve had the opportunity to chat with other women on a cancer journey. As we share stories and talk about our struggles, I’ve been reminded how much I’ve learned in the past 10 months.

Below is a list of resources I have found helpful this past year. I will add to the list as I find more. I also have a post full of great resources for family and friends of cancer patients if you are interested.

Misc. Resources:

Cleaning for a Reason – 4 free housecleaning appointments for Chemo patients (When you talk with the cleaning company to set up the appointments, make sure to get all the details about how many times they will come and for how long.)

Cancer Lifeline – classes, support groups and financial and emotional support services (Pacific Northwest)

American Cancer Society

Susan G. Komen for the Cure

Camp Kasem – recreational camps in the United States for children of parents with cancer

Metavivor – non-profit organization dedicated to increasing awareness of advanced breast cancer and equity in research and patient support

Magic Hour – Pairing those in the fight against cancer with photographers for FREE photo shoots

Look Good Feel Better – group workshops that teach beauty techniques to female cancer patients to help them combat the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment.

Oncology Certified and Licensed Aesthetician Christina Threlkeld – located inside the Breast Center at Valley Medical Center in Renton, Washington. (I met Christina when I took my Look Good Feel Better Class at the beginning of chemo. She has such a caring heart for women going through cancer treatment and she donates sessions to those in need during that time. When my eyebrows were growing back and my eye lashes were almost non existent, I went and saw her and she was so knowledgeable and helpful. I also enjoyed a relaxing facial and massage just a few weeks ago during radiation. She is amazing!!)

Cancer CartelFinancial grants for cancer patients and a place to donate things which they feel on their site to raise money for their grants.
